LYNWOOD PARTNERS EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SECURES SECOND $200K GRANT FROM CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Lynwood Unified School District students and graduates will continue to receive vital college and career support thanks to renewed funding from the California Community Foundation.

For the second time in two years, the California Community Foundation has awarded a $200,000 grant to the Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation (LPEF) for the 2025-2027 year to continue its efforts to support students and alumni of the Lynwood Unified School District (LUSD).

The funding, part of the Los Angeles Scholars Investment Fund, will continue to power the foundation's work providing scholarships, career workshops, and one-on-one mentoring to LUSD students and graduates through the Lynwood College Pledge and Alumni Center. These services help students pursue higher education, explore careers, and receive personalized support.

“We are incredibly grateful to the California Community Foundation for once again recognizing the impact of the Lynwood Partners Educational Foundation and investing in the future of our students and alumni,” Lynwood Unified Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite, Ph.D., said. “This continued support allows us to strengthen the Lynwood College Pledge and Alumni Center, providing our young people with the scholarships, mentorship and career guidance they need to thrive in college and beyond."

With the initial 2023 grant, LPEF opened the doors to the Lynwood Alumni Center and distributed over $72,000 in student aid, including college scholarships and grants to help with tuition, housing, transportation, books, and other basic needs. The second grant will deepen that work and allow the foundation to reach more students and alumni over the next two years.

“The continued support from the California Community Foundation helps us sustain momentum across the City of Lynwood,” said Mark Flores, President of the LPEF Board. “We’re creating stability, opportunity, and connection for our students and alumni—and we’re proud to see our mission continue to grow.”

In 2024, the foundation awarded $100,000 in scholarships to 101 seniors through the Lynwood College Pledge Program and awarded close to $10,000 to twenty recent LUSD graduates.
